Today we are releasing Inspectra BIM 1.0.0 — the first commercial version of our desktop application for reviewing, coordinating and quality-checking BIM models on infrastructure projects.

The free edition is available right now, with no time limit and no feature clock running in the background. If you only need to open models, navigate them, measure things and check whether the data is complete, that is the whole product for you and it costs nothing.

Why we built it

Inspectra grew out of everyday frustration on real infrastructure projects. Model viewers tended to fall into one of three groups: too limited to be useful beyond looking around, too expensive to put on every desk in the team, or cloud-based — which ends the conversation the moment a client’s NDA lands on the table.

We wanted something else: a tool that understands linear projects, runs entirely on the engineer’s own machine, and treats quality control as a normal part of reviewing a model rather than a premium add-on.

What the free edition does

Inspectra Free is a viewer and a basic QA toolset. It opens IFC — including IFC 4.3 with alignments and chainage — along with point clouds (LAS, LAZ, E57), LandXML terrain, OBJ and PLY meshes, and BCF files.

From there you get federated scene navigation, a properties inspector, saved views, the full measurement set, and every section type — including cross-sections driven by the road or rail alignment, which follow the axis instead of an arbitrary global plane.

The QA side is free as well: attribute audits with HTML reports, validation against buildingSMART IDS, quantity takeoff, and duplicate detection. You can read and comment on issues, change their status and re-run checks. None of that is behind a paywall.

Inspectra Audit

The Audit module is aimed at coordinators and anyone running model reviews for a team or a client.

It adds clash detection, including clearance checks, with grouped results, exceptions for pairs that are never a real problem, and reports for the meeting. Findings turn into issues with the viewpoint already attached, and the whole package exports to BCF 2.1 and 3.0 for whatever software the other side is using. Audit also brings rule-based filter sets, model repositioning and scene authoring.

Inspectra Edit

The Edit module is for people who need to fix the data rather than only report on it.

It adds attribute editing, automatic attribute assignment, rule-based IFC class mapping — so elements exported as generic proxies become the classes they should have been — element deletion, IFC merging and export.

Edit also contains the part we are proudest of: 2D drawings generated directly from the model. Cross-sections, longitudinal profiles and alignment-based sections, with dimensions and labels that read the model’s own data. When a new model export arrives, the drawing re-renders on it — dimensions and labels included. Sheets go out as vector PDF, or as layered DXF in true world coordinates.

Everything runs on your machine

This is not a feature we added; it is the reason the application is a desktop application.

Your models are never uploaded anywhere. There is no processing server, no project cloud, no telemetry carrying your project data. The only network traffic is signing in and checking for updates, and once you are signed in you can work offline. On projects covered by an NDA, that is usually the difference between being allowed to use a tool and not.

Pricing, demo and founding licences

Inspectra Free is free for everyone, permanently.

Audit and Edit are sold to companies as annual, per-seat licences with nothing renewing automatically. Both are available as a 14-day demo, one per company.

For the launch we are running founding pricing for the first 30 licences: Audit 1,190 PLN, Edit 1,450 PLN and the Audit + Edit bundle 2,090 PLN, net per year. Once that pool is used up, standard pricing applies — 1,890, 2,090 and 3,290 PLN respectively.
