Inspectra BIM 0.5.0 — a first look at Audit

Version 0.5.0 is the biggest release of Inspectra BIM so far. It brings a first look at Inspectra Audit — our coordination module for BIM coordinators and managers — and turns the free viewer into a real collaboration tool for everyone on the project. Here is what changed since 0.4.0.

Sneak peek: Inspectra Audit — clash detection and coordination

Audit has completed its testing phase and is now awaiting release. The module ships inside 0.5.0, so you can already see every tool in the application — the Audit tab and its tiles are visible but locked, and they cannot be used yet. The store opens in a while; the full premiere comes with version 1.0.0, and each Audit feature will get its own detailed write-up here before that happens.

What Audit brings:

  • Detekcja kolizji between any models, classes, attribute selections or saved filters — hard clashes with a penetration tolerance, plus clearance tests (“keep 50 mm around ducts”). Ignore rules (same file, same storey, same group), containment handling and a Clash Matrix that runs a whole battery of tests in one go.
  • Review workflow — statuses, tags, assignees and clash groups; a dedicated Review window with keyboard navigation; every clash can become an issue (single or in bulk) that remembers its camera view and the highlighted element pair.
  • Reruns that understand your model changed. Updating a test does not produce a second list — it reconciles: still-occurring clashes keep their numbers, tags and issue links, fixed ones become resolved, returning ones reopen. Matching works by GUID or, for regenerated models, by geometry.
  • Reports in HTML, Excel, XML and PDF — with per-clash screenshots, splits per test or per assignee, and an optional trend section that shows how the clash count falls from run to run.
  • Plus: authoring saved filters and auto-filters, BCF 2.1 export, Move Model (translate / rotate / two-point fit) and BI export.

Free got a collaboration upgrade

  • Work together on one scene file. Open a coordinator’s .ins scene, reply to issues and change their statuses — and save those updates back into the file. Two people can edit at once: saves merge, nothing gets lost, and the app tells you when the file changed on disk.
  • Verify your fixes yourself. If an issue was raised from a clash, right-click it and choose Rerun clash check: after you re-export your IFC, the pair is re-tested with the original test settings. The result lands in the issue’s new Clash log, and a resolved clash closes the issue automatically (status auto closed; it reopens if the clash comes back).
  • Check for Updates (Home tab) — the app detects which referenced IFC files were re-exported and reloads only those, not the whole scene.
  • Real names, real accountability. Replying, changing statuses and running checks now require signing in, and every entry is signed with your full name from registration.
  • BCF import stays free — with honest messaging: imported topics are read-only in Free (authoring issues is an Audit capability).
  • Issues panel grew up: Excel-style column filters, due dates with overdue highlighting, bulk status and tag changes.
  • Measurement snapping overhauled — snaps now prefer corners, then edges, then surfaces, and stay accurate in perspective views and on small faces.
  • Properties panel shows which model file an element came from; columns are resizable.
  • A new branded sign-in window, and Help → Collect Diagnostics for support — the report contains no model data and redacts file names.

Pod maską

  • The clash engine now runs precompiled machine code in the packaged app — the narrow phase is roughly 9× faster than a pure-Python fallback and scales across CPU cores. The first clash run after installation compiles once; every later session starts instantly from cache.
  • Windows 10 (64-bit) is fully supported alongside Windows 11.
  • Settings → About Third-Party Licenses lists every third-party component the app ships and the licenses it is used under.
